"Yesterday, Republicans blocked efforts by Democrats to protect religious freedom for all at the US Air Force Academy. Democrats, led by Rep. Obey of Wisconsin, attempted to add language to the Department of Defense Appropriations bill that would have made clear that "coercive and abusive religious proselytizing" is "inconsistent with the professionalism and standards required of those who serve at the academy."
During the debate of the Obey Amendment, Rep. Hostettler (R-IN) argued against the Obey Amendment by saying, "Like a moth to a flame the Democrats can't help themselves when it comes to denigrating and demonizing Christians." Rep. Obey objected to this characterization and Rep. Hostettler was forced to withdraw his comments."
